Short version: Fin. collects almost nothing.
Here's exactly what it does and doesn't, in plain English.
What we collect
- Anonymous crash reports via Sentry — stack traces, macOS version, and Fin. version, so we can fix bugs.
- Basic anonymous usage counts via TelemetryDeck, limited to:
app_launched,task_created,task_completed,task_deleted,list_created,list_deleted,settings_opened. No content is attached — these are counts.
Your task text, list names, and any other personal content never leave your Mac. Ever.
What we don't collect
No email, name, or account. No stored IP address. No advertising identifiers. No cross-site tracking. No ads. We don't sell or share your personal information.
Where your data lives
Your tasks stay on your Mac, and in iCloud Key-Value Store if you turn sync on — that's between you and Apple; we never see it. Crash data is processed by Sentry (United States). Usage events are processed by TelemetryDeck (Germany). Both are contractually bound to protect your data to the same standard described here. For users in the EEA or UK, transfers to Sentry in the US rely on Standard Contractual Clauses.
Crash reports are retained for up to 30 days. Usage counts are aggregated and can't be traced back to an individual.
Your choices
Opt out any time. Preferences → Privacy → turn off Send anonymous analytics. Takes effect immediately.
If you want to know what (if anything) we have about you, or want it deleted, email [email protected]. Because we intentionally collect nothing that identifies you, there's usually nothing to return — but we'll do what we can. EEA/UK users also have the right to contact their local data protection authority.
Children
Fin. isn't designed for children under 13 and doesn't knowingly collect data from them.
Changes
If we change how Fin. handles data, we'll update this page and move the date below. Material changes will also appear in the app's release notes.
Who runs Fin.
Fin. is made by NIKHCO, a general partnership registered in British Columbia, Canada. We trade as “NiKhCo” on the web. For privacy questions or data requests, email [email protected]. For general support, see our support page.
